Gov AbdulRazaq Gifts N1M To Best Student in 2023 WASSCE

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has awarded a cash prize of N1 million to Master Shalom Adesina, the best student in the 2023 West African Examination Council (WAEC) internal exams.

Master Adesina, a standout student from Rehoboth College, Pipeline, Ilorin, achieved distinctions in all subjects he did, showcasing exceptional academic prowess.

The award ceremony took place on Saturday August 10, 2024 at the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development’s conference hall in Ilorin, where the governor was represented by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu.

In his remarks, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized that the cash award was intended to encourage and support Master Adesina in his ongoing academic journey, highlighting the pride the student has brought to Kwara State.

The governor commended the hard work of teachers across the state for their dedication and their role in nurturing such talent. “Master Adesina’s achievements are a testament to the potential that exists within our educational system, and he truly deserves this motivation,” he stated.

Hon. John Olarewaju Bello, the Commissioner for Special Duties, expressed gratitude for the prompt release of the award, noting that it serves as an inspiration for all students to strive for excellence. He emphasized the importance of recognizing outstanding achievements in education.

Dr. Adetola Ariyike Salau, the Special Adviser on Education to the Governor, praised the initiative and urged Master Adesina to continue his academic pursuits with zeal, encouraging him to serve as a positive ambassador for the state.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, expressed appreciation for Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to improving the education sector, urging Master Adesina to take full advantage of the support provided by the government.

In a show of solidarity, Mr. Sheidu Abdulmalik, Principal of Rehoboth College, thanked the Governor for his generous gesture, praying for continued guidance in his leadership.

Both Master Adesina and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oluropo Adeshina, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the state government, appealing for the administration to maintain its focus on educational support.

In a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities, the state government also inaugurated a Committee on Special Education to promote inclusivity and support for students with disabilities. During the inauguration, Commissioner Kawu challenged the committee members to utilize their expertise to strengthen special education within the state.

Mrs. Bake commended the Governor for recognizing the potential of individuals with disabilities, noting the importance of creating an inclusive environment for all learners.
