FUTA Ranked 3rd Best University in Nigeria

The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has clinched the 3rd position in the 2024 AD Scientific Index Ranking of Institutions in Nigeria.

This remarkable achievement places FUTA just behind the University of Ibadan and the University of Nigeria in a competitive field of 282 institutions.

The AD Scientific Index is renowned for its unique approach to university ranking, focusing on the distribution of scientists within an institution across various percentiles.

This method distinguishes itself as the only ranking system that provides such detailed analysis, highlighting the institution’s ability to attract and retain successful scientists.

Notably, Professor Ganiyu Oboh from FUTA’s Department of Biochemistry has been recognized as the third-ranked scientist in Nigeria.

The Alper-Doger Scientific Index, based in Turkey, evaluates institutions not merely on journal and university metrics but on the scientific performance and added value of individual scientists. This approach offers a comprehensive view of an institution’s scientific capabilities, reflecting the quality and impact of its affiliated scientists.

Professor Adenike Oladiji, the Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, expressed her delight with the ranking, stating, “FUTA will not relent in its quest for excellence and relevance in the comity of global Universities. I congratulate our students and eminent scholars and scientists particularly Prof Oboh. They can continue to count on getting the best support in all their endeavours to deepen FUTA’s position as a citadel of Academic excellence where technology for self-reliance is the norm.”

This recognition aligns with FUTA’s previous success in the 2024 Times Higher Education Ranking, further solidifying its status as a leading institution in Nigeria.
