FUTA, MWAN Join Forces to Revolutionise Medical Training

In a meeting held on Tuesday, July 16, 2023, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Oladiji, welcomed the Executive Committee members of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Ondo State Chapter.

This visit marked a significant step towards a collaborative future between FUTA and MWAN.

The President of MWAN Ondo State Chapter, Dr. Bolanle Akinwonmi, began the meeting by congratulating Professor Oladiji on her historic appointment as the first female Vice Chancellor of FUTA.

She praised the Vice Chancellor for her remarkable achievements since taking office. Dr. Akinwonmi highlighted that MWAN, an all-female doctors’ association affiliated with the Nigeria Medical Association, has chapters nationwide and is dedicated to the advancement of medical women.

The primary purpose of the visit, as reiterated by Dr. Akinwonmi, was to initiate a collaboration with FUTA.

She expressed MWAN’s eagerness to partner with the university in training and mentoring students in the medical school. Dr. Akinwonmi extended her gratitude to Professor Oladiji for the warm reception and wished her continued success in her role.

In her response, Professor Oladiji expressed the readiness to collaborate with MWAN.

She emphasized the importance of not only training students but also instilling leadership qualities in them. Professor Oladiji underlined that the professional input from MWAN would be highly beneficial, particularly for FUTA’s burgeoning Medical School.

She expressed her honor in being associated with MWAN and looked forward to a fruitful partnership.

The MWAN delegation included notable doctors such as Dr. Omolayo Olubosede, Dr. Aiyeku Olajumoke, Dr. Orji Elohor, Dr. Olajide Bukola, Dr. Paul Odoh, Dr. Ndidi Okunuga, Dr. Toyin Adeyalo-Ogunadare, and Dr. Enowo Patricia.
