From Banker to School Owner: Duke Hall Schools Celebrates 10th Anniversary In Grand Style

With thanksgiving in their hearts, the school owner, teachers, students, parents, and well-wishers marked the 10th anniversary of Duke Hall Schools with her annual show tagged “Transformational Service” on Wednesday, 15th of December at the school premises in Ijaye Ojokoro, Lagos state.

The event which was graced by top government officials from the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, had in attendance the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, represented by a director in the ministry of education, Mrs M.O Akindele, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Sam Egube, represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Education to the governor, Deputy Director in the Ministry of Education, Mrs Adeyinka and His Royal Highness, Oba Ridwan Oluwalambe Taiwo, represented by Otunba Tunwase of Ojokoro land.

The programme started at 2:30 pm with the master of ceremony, David, aka MC Smooth and Mrs Adeyinka welcoming the chairman, Mr Duke Odinde and his wife, Mrs Ify Odinde, who doubled as the executive director and head of school were welcomed to the occasion.

While reliving her ten years’ experience dedicated to grooming children into well-bred and high achievers in society, the executive director and head of schools, Mrs Ify Odinde, narrated how she got the call to establish the school while still working as a banker. She thanked God for how the school has fared over the years.

Some of the event highlights are; the colourful choreography performance, dance drama, riddles and jokes, cultural dance, poem recitation and a lot of delightful presentations and display by the pupils of Duke Hall school, Ijaye Ojokoro, Lagos.

It was also a day to celebrate the teachers. The longest-serving staff in the school, Mrs Kate Ojeifo, was presented with an award of recognition and appreciation for her service. Also, other teachers were awarded for their commitment. 

Parents who have remained with the school for many years and parents who believed in the school’s value system, mission and also have remained committed to the school were given an award.
