Four More Baptist Students Escape From Bandits’ Den

Four more abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School, Maraban Damishi, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have regained their freedom,  the Christian Association of Nigeria has said on Monday.

The Chairman of CAN, Kaduna State, John Hayab, confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.

“Yes, another four students escaped from their abductors on Sunday, July 25, and have been reunited with their parents,” Mr Hayab said.

With the latest development, 83 students are still in captivity.

Bandits had invaded the school  on July 5 and kidnapped over 100 students.

Earlier Daily Trust had reported that three students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna,  escaped from their captors.

It was learnt that the students escaped from the camp where they were kept on July 19, 2021.

An aunt to one of the students, who simply identified herself as Funmi, confirmed this on Monday.

According to her, the three students had spent five days roaming inside the forest before they finally met another herder who directed them out of the forest.

It was further learnt that one of the escaped students who could recall his father’s phone number borrowed a phone to call home before his father went to pick them up.

“The children were found around Kasuwar Magani on Sunday evening hours after 28 students of the school were released by the bandits. It was the school management that called my in-law to inform us,” she said.

Recall that two other students had earlier escaped from the kidnappers’ camp.
