Fear Grips Campus as Gunmen Reportedly Abduct 3 Students from Enugu State Health College

Three students from the Enugu State College of Health Technology in Oji River have reportedly been abducted by gunmen.

The abduction took place on Wednesday evening, causing widespread fear and tension among students and staff at the institution.

According to sources who spoke to SaharaReporters, the gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, invaded the students’ halls of residence around 7 PM. The assailants reportedly fired shots into the air, causing panic and chaos as students scrambled for safety. Despite the commotion, the gunmen managed to abduct three students without facing any resistance.

A student of the college, speaking under the condition of anonymity, described the ensuing fear and uncertainty that has gripped the campus.

“We are looking for three of our fellow students. They are not answering their calls yet. The kidnappers shot sporadically into the air before gaining entrance into the hostels. There was pandemonium following the sporadic gunshots as everybody scampered for safety,” the source recounted. The student also mentioned that many students have left the campus out of fear, with some traveling home for safety.

As of now, it remains unclear if the suspected kidnappers have contacted the families of the abducted students. Concerns are heightened by recent reports of unhindered cattle movement by herders in and around the college, leading some to speculate that these herders might be involved in the abduction.

Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Enugu State Police Command have so far been unsuccessful, leaving the college community in a state of anxiety and uncertainty.
