Equity in Education: Minister Alausa Targets Inclusive Learning and Support for Marginalized Groups

In a bid to reshape Nigeria’s education system, Honourable Minister of State for Education, Dr. Alausa, has underscored the urgent need to provide inclusive learning opportunities and focused support for vulnerable populations, including Out-of-School Children, the Girl Child, and marginalized groups.

Dr. Alausa stressed that achieving educational equity is key to securing the nation’s future, stating, “Education is the bedrock of our future!”

The minister highlighted the importance of data-driven approaches to streamline teacher training and align policies with the ministry’s strategic goals. “Collaboration, innovation, and data-driven solutions will lead the charge for revolutionizing education,” he noted. Dr. Alausa called for a comprehensive approach that ensures quality infrastructure, modern teaching resources, and well-trained teachers in every school.

Dr. Suwaiba, another key education official, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need to align all deliverables and indicators with government policies to meet educational goals. She insisted that efforts must focus on those traditionally left behind by the system.

The Permanent Secretary reinforced the message, urging authorities to prioritize support for disadvantaged groups.

“We need to provide targeted support for Out-of-School Children, the Girl Child, and marginalized communities to close the educational gap,” she stated.

Furthermore, the Federal Government has called on State Governments to ensure that only qualified and certified teachers are employed in schools. This collaboration, they argue, will help achieve the ministry’s deliverables and improve learning outcomes for all children.

Dr. Alausa’s commitment reflects a holistic approach to education reform—one that seeks to bridge the equity gap and guarantee that every Nigerian child, regardless of their background, has access to quality education and a brighter future.
