Egbin Power Gives Scholarship Students in Host Communities

Egbin Power has once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to academic excellence and sustainable development through its renowned scholarship programme.

Now in its ninth edition, this initiative continues to illuminate the educational journey of children in the company’s host communities, underscoring Egbin Power’s mission to nurture future leaders, thinkers, and innovators.

Aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), this scholarship program is more than just financial aid; it’s a lifeline to inclusive, equitable, and quality education, opening doors to myriad learning opportunities for children and youth.

This year, 14 bright students have emerged as the latest beneficiaries, gaining access to a comprehensive package that covers tuition, textbooks, uniforms, and even high-quality tablets for e-learning.

These students will begin their educational journey at Powerfields Schools, an institution owned by Egbin Power, known for its nurturing environment and quality education.

At the heart of this initiative is Mokhtar Bounour, Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, who expressed the profound impact of the scholarship over the years. “Education is not a privilege, it is a fundamental right that every child deserves,” Bounour passionately stated.

He acknowledged the crucial role of parents, guardians, and teachers in shaping young minds, emphasizing that their unwavering support forms the bedrock of the children’s success.

“At Egbin Power, we believe that education is a powerful tool for transformation. Through initiatives like this, we aim to contribute to the long-term development of our communities and nation. The success of these students is a testament to that commitment, and their achievements are our collective success,” he added. Bounour also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in the future of Nigerian youth, aligning with SDG 4 to ensure young people have the opportunities to thrive.

The scholarship initiative is designed to be more than just financial support; it includes a vibrant array of activities such as boot camps, educational fairs, and games that foster problem-solving skills, teamwork, and social abilities.

Speaking at the event, Ngozi Emezue, Administrator of Powerfields Schools, highlighted the immense support the scholarship provides to families and students, allowing them to pursue their academic aspirations with newfound confidence.

“Egbin Power has brought joy to many parents, easing the financial strain on families and giving students the chance to excel in a conducive learning environment. We are proud to be part of this journey, and we thank Egbin Power for their continuous generosity and unwavering support,” Emezue stated. She also praised the dedication of the teachers and school management, whose efforts have ensured outstanding academic performance among scholarship students.

Parents of the awardees echoed these sentiments, with Abdullahi Shuaibu, father of one recipient, expressing deep gratitude: “Egbin Power has greatly relieved the financial burden on families like mine. I am deeply grateful, and I pray that the company continues to flourish for the good it is doing in our community.”

The impact of the scholarship is perhaps best encapsulated by the words of Fatima Abdullahi, one of the scholarship recipients, who said, “This scholarship has not only eased the financial burden on my family, but it has also motivated me to strive for academic excellence. I am truly grateful to Egbin Power for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”
