“Education: The only inheritance that siblings don’t fight over,” Catholic Bishop Urges Parents

Bishop Wilfred Anagbe of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi has urged parents to prioritize quality education for their children, calling it a lifelong gift that fosters independence and harmony.

The bishop shared this message during the celebration of his 30th priestly and 10th episcopal anniversaries on Friday in Makurdi, where he highlighted education as a unique inheritance that benefits each child personally.

“This is the only inheritance that siblings do not fight over because it is personal,” Bishop Anagbe stated. “But every other inheritance is of little or no meaning compared to education. If you give your children quality education, you have liberated them forever.”

The event drew prominent figures, including former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, who commended Bishop Anagbe’s dedication to faith and humanity. Reflecting on their working relationship, Ortom said, “The bishop supported my administration by offering quality and useful advice to me,” emphasizing the bishop’s influence on the state’s leadership.

Additionally, Mathias Byuan, a former All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant, encouraged community members to give generously to those in need, echoing the bishop’s commitment to compassion.

Senate Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro also expressed admiration for Bishop Anagbe, promising to support his vision and initiatives for the community. “The bishop won my heart because of his antecedents, and I promise to partner with him forever,” Moro remarked. He further pledged to build a block of three classrooms at a school that Bishop Anagbe plans to construct for internally displaced persons.

The event underscored the bishop’s enduring impact on the diocese and his commitment to uplifting lives through education and faith. Bishop Anagbe pledged to continue serving the people, asking for their prayers and support as he advances his mission.
