Educare CEO Onyia Critiques Marriage Definition in Nigerian Schools, Warns Against Progressive Curriculum

In a discussion on X space, Nigerian activist and CEO of Educare, Alex Onyia, voiced strong concerns over the content being taught in primary schools across the country.

He highlighted a troubling trend in educational curricula that could have far-reaching implications for the nation’s cultural fabric.

“Some primary schools in Nigeria teach children that marriage is a union between two adults. Man and a man, woman and a woman, or man and a woman,” Onyia stated, expressing his apprehension about the potential normalization of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities among young students.

He urged parents to take immediate action, asserting, “Parents, if you don’t act now, your boys will grow up marrying a man or your girls marrying a woman. Or they will choose to change their gender identity.”

This stark warning reflects his belief that the current educational framework is deviating from traditional Nigerian values.

Onyia did not shy away from criticizing the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), calling for a “total revamp” of the organization and insisting that it “needs to step up seriously to save our country now.”

He emphasized the critical role education plays in shaping the future, declaring, “Education is the core DNA of our Nation, and our future depends on it.”

In a rallying cry for investment in education, Onyia concluded, “We need to protect and invest in it heavily to secure our future!”
