Debiruss College is an institution that
places strong importance on education, providing life-enhancing skills, a
strong sense of community, and Christian values. The college aims to promote
and ensure the development of upright,
international citizens and provide a curriculum that ensures that this actually
happens. With the belief that “the path to excellence and distinction should
begin from childhood”, Debiruss college was established with the aim of
providing an excellent foundation for the young ones.

The school’s mission is to mould every child into a total person
in order to help them achieve excellence in all areas of life. To achieve this,
teachers who are committed
to innovative teaching methods and the highest possible educational provision are
employed. They utilise various physical and virtual learning environments to
support student learning while providing appropriate support and feedback. Thus,
the students find themselves in a warm, caring and nurturing environment which
is student-centred and dedicated to helping them attain the highest possible standards.

Educational Scope and
Curriculum

Debiruss College educates students in the broadest sense, giving
them the tools with which to attain wisdom and knowledge. Curiosity is a
quality that is fostered in the children early enough to enable them to develop
a love for learning. The result of this is that the students flourish
academically and are stimulated intellectually.

The school has adopted the Nigerian
and British Curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of individual students. At all stages, there is an emphasis on the
development of appropriate study skills and increasingly greater independence
in learning, so that pupils can access the curriculum and make full use of the
opportunities it provides for academic and personal progression.

Teachers
are always available during free periods and after school to provide support to
students when needed. The expectations are high and students are challenged to
achieve their personal best in a variety of spheres and to take personal
responsibility for their own learning. The curriculum is delivered in an
environment of mutual respect, support and encouragement, with an emphasis on
the promotion of the school’s core values in excellent education. Examinations
offered in the school are the IGCSE,
CHECKPOINT, WAEC, and NECO.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Sports play a key role in the development of children. The school
provides excellent sports facilities, which include a football pitch,
basketball court and a multi-purpose court for volleyball and badminton.The
Sports Department has dedicated specialists who are all devoted to achieving
sporting excellence throughout the school. They deliver a full and varied
curricular and co-curricular programme to ensure that all students are engaged
in and can enjoy their sport and achieve their full potential.

The school also offers other co-curricular activities in the form of clubs and we encourage students to join a minimum of two clubs. Clubs include Drama, Press, Literary and Debating, Science, ICT, and Conservation amongst others.
