CPE Calls for Government Intervention, Condemns Alleged Child Assault Involving Actress Tonto Dikeh

The Concerned Parents and Educators Initiative (CPE) strongly condemns a disturbing video currently circulating on social media, which appears to show actress Tonto Dikeh performing what has been described as a “deliverance” on a female secondary school student.

The circumstances surrounding the incident, as well as the apparent recording and public dissemination of the footage, have raised serious concerns regarding the safety, dignity, and rights of the child involved. Children should be protected and not used as props for online clout or content.

Acts that involve physical restraint or public exposure of a child in a vulnerable state, particularly when recorded and shared publicly, raise serious ethical and legal concerns. Such actions may constitute child abuse, assault, or a violation of the child’s right to dignity and protection.

CPE emphasises that schools and all individuals operating within educational environments owe a reasonable duty of care to every child under their supervision. Educational spaces must remain safe environments where the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of students is protected at all times.

CPE therefore calls for urgent government intervention by Child Protection Agencies to ensure the actress is held accountable. This will discourage such acts from recurring and ensure that children’s rights are protected in the future.

Furthermore, CPE urges school administrators, public personalities, and all individuals interacting with minors to uphold the highest standards of child protection and safeguarding. The rights and welfare of children must never be compromised under the guise of spiritual intervention, discipline, or public demonstration.

CPE remains committed to advocating for the safety, dignity, and holistic development of every Nigerian child.
