CPE Calls for an End to Incessant Kidnappings of Students in Northern Nigeria

As Concerned Parents and Educators of Nigeria, we are deeply troubled by the ongoing wave of kidnappings and abductions targeting students in the Northern regions of our country. These despicable acts of violence not only endanger the lives of innocent children but also undermine the foundation of our educational system and sow fear and insecurity within our communities.

The repeated incidents of mass abductions of students are not just attacks on individuals, but assaults on the very fabric of our society. The trauma inflicted on the victims, their families, and the broader community is immeasurable and cannot be allowed to continue unchecked.

We call upon the authorities to take urgent and decisive action to halt these atrocities. We demand the following:

  1. Immediate and heightened security measures to protect schools and vulnerable communities from further kidnappings.
  2. Safe and swift return of all abducted students to their families.
  3. Swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice.
  4. Long-term strategies to address the root causes of insecurity in the affected regions.

The safety and education of our children are non-negotiable. We cannot allow a situation where going to school becomes a perilous journey for our students. It is imperative that the government takes proactive steps to ensure that our educational institutions are safe havens for learning and growth.

As Concerned Parents and Educators, we stand united in our resolve to see an end to these horrific incidents. We urge all stakeholders, including the government, security agencies, and the international community, to collaborate and prioritize the protection of our students.

The future of our nation depends on the safety and well-being of our youth. We will not rest until every child can go to school without the fear of being kidnapped.

We urge swift and collective action to end the incessant kidnappings of students in Northern Nigeria.

Signed,

Concerned Parents and Educators of Nigeria
