Covenant Child Academy Celebrates 15th Annual Inter-house Sports

Thursday,
the 20th day of February was a day filled with so much energy,
positive vibe, and excitement as Covenant Child Academy celebrated its long-awaited
15th Annual Interhouse Sports event. The event which has become a yearly
tradition for the Covenant Child Academy family was even more dynamic than
previous years, as it saw the introduction of new sporting activities which are
unpopular in top Nigerian schools and even yet to be truly embraced as a
Nigerian sport in the national sporting industry of the country.

Rev.
Dr. Delight Olise stressed that the Inter-House Sports was focused on
discovering natural potentials inherent in the students of the school in the quest
of raising a total child mentally, socially, spiritually, and physically. She emphasized
how the world has changed and is now more concerned about skill acquisition and
as such sports is an integral aspect of skills acquisition and has over the
years, become an entrepreneurial outlet for producing successful, world-renowned
athletes in Football, Athletics and many more.

She
spurred the competitors on to compete bravely and ensure that they make the
competition a healthy one filled with excitement, laughter and a high spirit of
sportsmanship as participation is important than winning at all costs. She
encouraged the students to put in their very best and be consistent as winners
never quit and quitters never win.

It
was on! As the cheers and rhythmic sounds from the audience sent shockwaves
throughout the Teslim Balogun stadium, prepping the five Inter-house teams –
Joy House, Peace House, Faith House, Love House, and Hope House – to energetic
take the pitch for the exciting March Past activity, there was a clash of
techniques and different marching styles among the Inter-House teams.

The
little kids were just a joy to watch, as they left nothing out racing down the
track, especially the cute kid who had already darted down the track before the
game master could even blow the whistle. At that point, the audience was
already laughing that hearts out as they were thrilled to see the 3-year-olds
sprinting down the racing track with so much life and energy.

The
highlights were numerous, from Cycling to Taekwondo which was executed to
perfection to by the students, for a moment, the students looked like
professional cyclists, racing against the twists and turns and curve of the
track like professional cyclists and the young martial artists too were almost
a replica of Jackie Chan in his younger days. Covenant Child Academy Inter-House
Sports activities were dynamic and would remain a cut above the rest for a long
time or at least for the year 2020.

The
competition intensified in the closing stages with Faith house and Peace house
leading the activities for long spells and going head to head to lay their
claim to the coveted prize, eventually, Faith house broke the deadlock by
taking the lead in the major activities such as March Past, 75 m Lekki Girls
Race, 75 m Elementary Boys Race, Long Jump, and many others to win the 2020
Covenant Child Academy Inter-House Sports competition.

Faith House fought till the end to make the dream a reality, while Peace house came so close to clinching it, overall it was a deserved win, overall, Covenant Child Academy were able to encourage sponsor such as Access Bank, Union Bank, and TV stations to see the need for developing young talents as a means of diversifying the economy for better productivity and development in Nigeria.
