Corps Member Equips 60 Anambra Students with Essential Digital Skills

Mr. Rilwan Amos Yakubu, a dedicated member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has empowered 60 students across various schools in Anambra with vital skills in videography and photography.

This transformative project is part of Rilwan’s personal community development scheme during his service year.

The graduate of English and Literature from the Federal University, Lokoja, devoted three intensive months to organizing both theoretical and practical training sessions. Students from esteemed institutions, including Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Community Secondary School, Okpuno, Capital City Secondary School, Okpuno, Debino Amura Vocational Institute, Okpuno, Prime Zee International Academy, Okpuno, and Rehabort International College, Okpuno, participated in this enriching program.

Among the 60 graduates, eight were recognized for their exceptional performance.

Rilwan announced, “These eight students will undergo an additional month of training, where we will identify the overall best among them.”

During the graduation ceremony, Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma, the State Coordinator, commended Rilwan for being an invaluable asset to the country. She highlighted his effective utilization of the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program, urging the participating students to enhance their newly acquired skills. “Aim at being self-reliant, especially given the current economic challenges,” she advised.

Rev Fr Robert Aniagboso, the Director of Fides Media in Okpuno and Rilwan’s employer, lauded the Corps Member for his outstanding dedication. He stated, “Rilwan has demonstrated exceptional qualities, not only in his responsibilities at his Place of Primary Assignment but also in training these students to become digital literates in videography and photography.”

Fr Aniagboso further pledged to offer employment to the best candidate among the eight students selected for further training at Fides Media, reinforcing the commitment to nurturing talent and skills within the community.
