COOU Digitalises Collection of Certificates, Transcripts

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has disclosed a plan to digitalise collection of certificates, transcripts and other vital documents.

While disclosing in a statement on its official Facebook page, the management stated that the initiative is aimed at revolutionising the way the university archives degree results, marking the beginning of a new era in academic documentation.

Upon assuming office as the acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha acknowledged the ongoing challenges that alumni face in obtaining their certificates and transcripts.

In response, she pledged the university’s commitment to transition to a fully digital system, eliminating the frustrations caused by delays in processing these essential documents.

To ensure a smooth transition, the university management has actively engaged with key stakeholders, including the Registry Staff in the Exams and Records Unit and the Alumni Association.

This collaborative effort is part of COOU’s forward-thinking mantra, “the Now University and the Future,” which emphasizes leveraging technological innovations to enhance service delivery and sustainability.

In a demonstration of commitment, COOU has launched the first phase of its digital transition by establishing an archiving unit.

“Staff members will undergo a two-week specialized training program to equip them with the necessary skills for utilizing the new software designed for this process,” it said.

Dr. Nonso Ofozoba, Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor on ICT, confirmed that the archiving unit will operate under the Office of the University Registrar and will commence work immediately after the training. With this initiative, the manual application process for transcripts and certificates will soon be a relic of the past.

Mrs. Maureen Ifeako, Head of the new Archives Unit, expressed her enthusiasm for the university’s innovative approach to resolving the persistent delays in document processing. She highlighted the significance of this development, declaring it a “game-changer” that will greatly benefit alumni worldwide.
