Christianah Idowu: FUNAAB Commiserates with Family, Calls for Justice

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is reeling from the devastating news of the abduction and murder of one of its promising students, Christianah Idowu.

The 300-level student of Pure and Applied Botany was tragically taken from her loved ones in a heart-wrenching incident that has left the university community in deep mourning.

The news of Christianah’s death in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has sparked profound sorrow across the university.

In a heartfelt statement issued on Friday, Olasunkanmi Olajide, the acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, conveyed the institution’s grief and sympathy.

“It is with profound sorrow and deep sympathy that the Management of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) commiserates with the family, friends, and the entire student body on the tragic loss of Miss Christianah Idowu,” the statement read. The university emphasized the collective heartbreak felt by the FUNAAB community over the “senseless murder” of their beloved student.

In a show of solidarity and support, a delegation from the university, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi and Student Union President Comrade Ibraheem Adeyemi, visited Christianah’s family to offer condolences.

“We extend the University’s heartfelt condolences and offered comfort during this most difficult time,” the statement further noted, highlighting the institution’s commitment to standing by the bereaved family.

FUNAAB has also made a fervent appeal to law enforcement agencies, urging them to bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice.

“We now call upon the Nigeria Police Force to expedite their investigation and ensure that justice is not delayed. This act of violence must not go unanswered,” the statement declared, reflecting the university’s determination to see that justice is served.
