Chevening Scholar Namse Udosen Wins Spirit of Sussex Award

Namse Udosen, a Chevening scholar and education policy analyst, has been recognized with the Spirit of Sussex Award at the University of Sussex.

This accolade marks a significant milestone for Udosen, who shared his excitement on LinkedIn, stating, “This is the first time I am winning any awards in my schooling life.”

The Spirit of Sussex Awards is an annual recognition programme that honours outstanding contributions and achievements across various categories, including student, staff, and alumni awards.

The initiative aims to celebrate individuals who embody the university’s spirit, with winners receiving trophies, certificates, and recognition during a special ceremony.

Udosen dedicated his award to the many friends who supported various cultural activities, saying, “I dedicate this award to all the great friends who supported most of the cultural activities from One World Sussex Week to the Sussex Festival of Ideas and the numerous book readings and opportunities to tell stories to kids in East Sussex Library and Information Service, Seaford, New Haven, Lewes, and Brighton.” His gratitude reflects the collaborative spirit fostered within the university community.

He also extended his appreciation to his fellow Chevening scholars and classmates, stating, “To all Chevening Awards Cheveners in the University of Sussex and my MAIED 2023 cohort at the University of Sussex School of Education and Social Work who were always there to cheer me on. Not forgetting the ever-supporting academics, notably Mairead Dunne, our mummy.”

Udosen further acknowledged the support of his friends who played a crucial role in his success: “To @Bash Amuneni, Su’ur, Su’eddie Agema, who helped me kill the Festival of Ideas event.”

In closing, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered encouragement along the way: “To everyone who has shared encouragement and support, remain blessed!”
