ASUU extends strike by 3 months, Unilag students protest

UNILAG students protesting against ASUU strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended the current strike by 3 months, meaning it will last till the 1st of August, 2022 if no resolve is met.

In a press briefing released by the National Executive Council today, The Chairman of the union, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke stated that the strike has been extended till August 1st, 2022 after the period of the warning strike ended last Friday.

In other news, in line with a directive from the Students Union Governing (SUG) body, students from the University of Lagos took to the environs of their university to protest against the strike action.

The heavy presence of the DSS operatives, Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC stationed at gate of the school did not deter the students who peacefully protested against the current strike that is now being extended for another three (3) months.

Last week, University students in Edo state took to the streets to protest against the continuous strike. It is now expected that other institutions affected will follow suit.
