Adamawa Governor Launches Initiatives to Bolster Free, Quality Education

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has announced significant initiatives aimed at providing free and quality education in primary and post-primary schools across Adamawa State.

This commitment was underscored during a recent event where a scholarship scheme for 40 students admitted into federal government colleges was inaugurated, alongside an empowerment project benefiting 360 elders, youth, and women, all sponsored by the Song Local Government Area.

Governor Fintiri, represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, emphasized the government’s role in alleviating the financial burdens on parents.

“We have taken off the shoulders of parents the responsibility of paying NECO and WAEC fees for them to acquire formal education,” he stated, highlighting the administration’s efforts to make education accessible to all.

In a powerful message, he urged the importance of education for children, particularly girls, stressing that they should be allowed to complete their schooling before considering marriage.

“Government is determined to ensure that no child in Adamawa State is deprived of education at all levels,” he affirmed.

The governor also pointed out the strides made in enhancing public schools throughout the state, noting improvements in infrastructure and resources, “As a state, we have made significant improvements in public schools in the areas of equipment, construction of classrooms, laboratories, books, free mobility, and free feeding to make teaching and learning easier.”

Adding to the discourse, the chairman of the council, Idris Yahaya, urged parents to take an active role in their children’s education. He called on them to register their children in nearby public schools and to closely monitor their academic and moral development. Yahaya reassured the community of his ongoing support for education through the enhancement of educational initiatives within the council.

Ardo Sani Mohammadu, the Fulani leader of Dauchi village, expressed gratitude towards the government for their commitment to modernizing education in the area, particularly with the recent laying of the foundation for a new school.

He stated, “We appreciate the government for establishing modern schools for our children.”
