A Partnership all the way – ED, Emerald Schools on school-alumni relationship

Mrs Edna Obaze

In our world today where we have alumni of schools playing major roles in the decision-making and development of the institution, it has become an imperative for schools to create a long-lasting relationship with their old students.

Mrs Edna Obaze, the Executive Director, Emerald Schools shared her thoughts on this in an interview with our reporter.

In her statement, she stressed the importance of a school, maintaining a partnership in order to bring useful contributions to the development of the school.

She highlighted some of the relevant roles that the alumni of Emerald schools have played in discussions centered around the school’s development and went further to state how the voluntary contributions of the school’s alumni have birthed great things for the school.

She attributed this to the school’s commitment to be interested in the matters of its students even when they are out of the school. She added that “we have endeared ourselves to them that they always want to partner with us in many of the things that we are doing”. This, she said has made them good ambassadors of Emerald schools.

The ripple effect of this is that the current students and younger ones now feel proud to be associated with the school.

This relationship between the school and its alumni through shared interests have yielded positive outcomes for the school. So, it is a partnership all the way.
