Jigawa State continues to set a precedent in prioritizing education with groundbreaking policies aimed at making learning accessible and affordable for its indigenes.
Under the state government’s educational reforms, indigenes of Jigawa studying in the state-owned university pay a remarkably low school fee of just N10,000 per academic session while receiving a generous scholarship of N60,000 annually.
Even more striking is the state’s commitment to female education. Jigawa female indigenes enjoy free education from primary school to the PhD level, regardless of their course of study.
This initiative is complemented by an annual scholarship of N60,000, ensuring financial support throughout their educational journey.
These policies highlight Jigawa State’s dedication to improving literacy, empowering women, and fostering an educated population.
A representative of the state government remarked, “Our aim is to remove every financial barrier to education for our people, particularly our women, because we understand the transformative power of education in driving development.”
Parents and students have lauded the initiative, praising it as a game-changer in creating opportunities for academic excellence and social mobility. “This is a blessing for many families,” said a beneficiary, adding, “The state has given us hope and a future through affordable and free education.”
Jigawa’s proactive approach not only addresses educational accessibility but also positions the state as a model for other regions seeking to empower their citizens through robust educational policies.
