Mrs. Rosemary Oromoni, mother of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni, who died in 2021 under controversial circumstances at Dowen College, Lagos, has passed away.
Her death, reported on November 25, follows years of health complications believed to stem from the grief and trauma of losing her youngest son.
Sylvester Oromoni Jnr. allegedly died from injuries sustained due to severe bullying by senior students at the elite high school, a case that sparked nationwide outrage and calls for justice. Three years after his death, the family is once again thrust into mourning, as Mrs. Oromoni’s passing underscores the enduring pain of their tragedy.
A family source disclosed that Mrs. Oromoni’s health had been steadily declining since her son’s demise. “She was deeply affected by Sylvester’s death. She could neither eat nor sleep properly, and it took a toll on her mental and physical health,” the source revealed. “Her passing is a direct result of the heartbreak she endured.”
The news has sent shockwaves through the community, reigniting conversations about justice and the long-term effects of unresolved grief. “Losing a son is devastating enough, but the circumstances of Sylvester’s death made it unbearable for her. Her life was never the same after that,” said a close family friend.
Mrs. Oromoni’s passing leaves the family in deeper mourning as they continue their pursuit of accountability for the events that led to Sylvester’s untimely death.
