Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), has begun the 2021 Online (Virtual) Teachers’ Pensioners Verification Exercise.
The verification is aimed at giving pensioners, who were or may have been deleted from the payroll for non-appearance during the last verification exercise, the opportunity to be re-enlisted and have their arrears paid.
The exercise will also allow for deletion of names of Pensioners who may have passed on during the course of the preceding year.
Speaking on the Year 2021 mode of Verification, the Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Elizabeth Olabisi Ariyo, affirmed that the Verification exercise is in tandem with the State’s Pensions Policy which provides for annual auditing of Pensioners’ list for the purpose of updating payroll in the Old Pensions’ Scheme.
The Chairman explained that this year’s Verification, just as the previous year, is being done virtually in line with the Covid-19 Protocol of physical distancing.
In her words, ‘‘I have no doubt that the Online Verification will be more convenient for our Pensioners, both at home and in diaspora, as they will be verified in the comfort of their homes”.
She stressed that the Online Verification will serve as an avenue for the sick or bed-ridden to participate in the exercise without the stress of coming physically to the venue.
The Exercise is expected to commence on Monday, November 15, 2021, and close on Friday, December 17, 2021.
